Gioachino Rossini's elaborate marble tomb contains a life size female figure dressed in classical robes standing on the base and looking up at the tomb. GIOACHINO ROSSINI is inscribed in gold letters on front of the tomb. Above is a bust of Rossini wearing a high color, an ascot around his neck, and white robes within a marble circle that has a gold background.
Description:

Gioachino Rossini was born in 1792 in Pesaro, Papal States in present day Italy. He studied music at a young age and by the age of twelve he had composed six sonatas for stringed instruments. He became the leading force in Italian opera for 50 years. During his life he compose 40 operas.

His is most famous for composing the operas The Barber of Seville, William Tell and Othello. He also wrote 18 cantatas, 24 pieces of instrumental music, 10 pieces of sacred music, 6 pieces of chamber music, and 27 secular vocal songs. His William Tell Overture will forever be known as the theme for the radio and television show The Lone Ranger.
