"This is one of 40 Caboose units that were converted in 1968 in Santa Fe's West Wichita shops. The final four units of this series were re-designated again as Ce-4 cabooses when their cupolas were removed leaving ATSF #999636 the last number of the series. The yellow cupola denotes that the unit was to be used only in "local service" and was not a "road service"."
