"Admiral Bernard "Chick" Clarey Bridge, also known as the Ford Island Bridge, is a floating concrete, pontoon bridge.
The bridge provides access to Ford Island, a United States Navy installation situated in the middle of Pearl Harbor.
Ford Island is home to the National Park Service, Pearl
Harbor, National Historic Sites. and gives access to Honolulu for Island residents.

THE PERSON.
"Bernard Ambrose Clarey (May 4, 1912 – June 15, 1996), nicknamed "Chick", was an admiral of the United States Navy.
A submarine commander during World War II, he served during the late 1960s as Vice Chief of Naval Operations and in the early 1970s as Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
He was awarded three Navy Crosses for valor.
Admiral Clarey is a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor while he was the executive officer of the submarine Dolphin (SS-169).
After his service in the Navy, Clarey served as vice president for the Bank of Hawaii.
He died at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii on 15 June 1996."
