This Peace Pole was placed in front of Monroe Road Elementary School in Lambertville, Michigan, shortly after 9/11. Monroe Road Elementary School is part of the Bedford Public Schools.
From information gathered from Principal Graf, all of the students and staff had signed the pole. The only problem was that it was placed too close to the 'sprit' rock. Sometime in the last year an 'over-spirited' student (who had permission to paint the spirit rock) also painted the peace pole. Mr. Graf says that they intend to restore the peace pole to it's original un-painted version.
