The memorial is comprised of a small rock enclosure with a stone held in a concrete base. The stone has crossed flags of the United States of America, and it looks like there was a photo at one point, although it was not here in 2015 or 2019. An easel stands next to the stone, featuring a likeness of Corporal Butler, and it reads:

Corporal Butler's Findagrave page notes that he's buried just up the road from here in Squaw Creek Cemetery in Rainbow. He was born not far from here in Clifton, but grew up in Glen Rose, graduating here in 2003 and joining the Army in 2004. Assigned to the Army's 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, he was on a routine assignment when he was killed by an explosion from an IED. Among the awards he received were the Army's Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and Service Ribbon, along with the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
