The synagogue of Wittlich has been built in the years 1909/ 1910 for the approximatly 250 member of the Jewish community. 28 years later, in 1938 the synagogue became a victim of the Reichpogromnacht. Like many other Jewish buildings this synagogue together with its interior has been destroyed. After that it was sued as a camp for French prisoners of war. After the WW II, the building was unused and remained as ruins. In 1973 the idea to renew the building came up. After three years the building start as a Centre for culture and as congress-center.In 1991 a permanent exhibition about Jewish life in Wittlich was opened.
