The Nautical Flag Pole had an array of less regular flags being flown, which caught my attention. When I had shown some interest in the array of 'unknown' flags I was presented with the resident vexillologist, who was able to easily enlighten me. Lovely to see the array of flags. When I went over to the base of the Flagpole I found two plaques, with one having the following engraved inscription:
The Flag at the Masthead
is Flown in Perpetuity
by the
DIGGERS SECTION
of the
Warringah Bowling Club
Below the base of the flagpole is another rectangular bronze engraved plaque, that is headed by the Australian Infantry Forces crest, with the following inscription:
ERECTED BY THE [---] DIGGERS SECTION
1957
--------
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
we will remember them.
