Sculpture bas-relief « Jos Montferrand »

Bas-relief en bois (24 po. x 36 po.) sculpté par Pier Cloutier (1945-1986) suite à une commande du prêteur de cette oeuvre Albert Lebeau. Mieux connu sous son nom d’artiste « Clout », Pier Cloutier faisait partie de l’école des frères Bourgeault de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Qc.

Cette sculpture représente l’histoire de la drave au Québec avec comme personnages, au centre Jos Montferrand, à gauche « Bill Wabo», personnage fictif de l’auteur Claude-Henri Grignon dans son livre Les belles histoires des pays d’en haut, et à droite Francois-Xavier Lebeau, arrière grand-père d’Albert Lebeau qui était draveur.

Cette oeuvre vise à souligner la participation des francophones au développement de l’économie locale et régionale; Jos Montferrand ayant été un personnage légendaire de l’Outaouais et du Québec.

Wooden bas-relief (24 in x 36 in) carved by Pier Cloutier (1945-1986) which was commissioned by the lender Albert Lebeau. Better known by his artist's name "Clout", Pier Cloutier was part of the Bourgeault brothers' school in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Qc.

This sculpture represents the story of the Quebec log drive with Jos Montferrand at the center, on the left "Bill Wabo", a fictional character of the author Claude-Henri Grignon in his book « Les belles histoires des pays d'en haut » and on the right, Francois-Xavier Lebeau, great-grandfather of Albert Lebeau, who was a log driver.

This art work aims to highlight the participation of francophones in the development of the local and regional economy; Jos Montferrand having been a legendary figure in the Outaouais and Quebec
