[EN] This relief by Daniel Schilling von Lahnstein is in the church Maria Himmelfahrt in Andernach.
"On the west wall of the nave is the wall tomb of the mayor of Andernach, Daniel Schilling von Lahnstein (1470-1541), who was married to Margarethe von Kottenheim (1478-1525). The Renaissance tomb from 1541 shows in front of a suggested gate representing the entrance to death, framed by two pilasters, adorned with plants and leaf capitals, the most famous knight of Andernach, armoured from head to toe and slightly bent forwards, praying. Above and below you can see the knight's ancestral coat of arms: above von Lahnstein and von der Leyen, below von Schoenburg and von Eltz. Between the two upper coats of arms stands the inscription of the tomb: Anno Dni 1541 Uff Den 28. Julii Ist Gestorben Der Erenvest Daniel Schilling von Lansten Den Got G.S.A (In the year of the Lord 1541 the honourable Daniel Schilling von Lahnstein, to whom God is gracious, died on 28 July). Amen.). Under his term of office Andernach attained for a short time (1537-1540) the immediacy of the empire."
