Long Description:

[EN] "The baptismal font is made of Stenzelberger latite. Six small column shafts made of black polished basalt lava carry the basin. A decorative leaf frieze surrounds the Kuppa. The baptismal font is the only workpiece of the Andernach hut from the construction period of the church at the beginning of the 13th century. In the 19th century a historicised lid was added. Since then, the baptismal font has stood in the chapel of the north-west tower. With the beginning of the redesign inside the cathedral, it was moved to the central nave in March 2018. There it now stands in the first yoke and also serves as a holy water basin when entering the church. The lid was removed for this purpose."
