Dolorès Bériault (1917-1994) et Marcel Bériault (1915-1997)
Dolorès et Marcel Bériault (née Couillard) s’installent à Orléans en 1956. Dolorès a été coordinatrice des bibliothèques au sein de la Commission scolaire.Marcel, pour sa part, a été président de la Commission des loisirs et de la Chambre de Commerce. En 1970, La Chambre le nomme « Citoyen de l’année ».
En 1984, la Fédération des femmes canadiennes-françaises proclame Dolorès, « Mere de l’année », compte tenu de son implication dans la communauté. En 1958, ils fondèrent une bibliothèque communautaire à partir de leur collection personnelle. Au fil des années, l’inventaire augmente avec de nombreux dons et subventions. Initialement, la bibliothèque est logée dans une salle de classe inoccupée au sous-sol de l’ancienne école Saint-Joseph, situé autrefois sur le boulevard Saint-Joseph.
Cette bibliothèque devient publique en 1967 et déménage au 2742 boulevard Saint-Joseph. En 1978, en guise de reconnaissance, le Conseil d’administration de la Bibliothèque publique de Gloucester donne à cette succursale le nom de Bériault. Lors de son dernier déménagement au 1705, boulevard Orléans, elle est renommée succursale d’Orléans, avec cette salle commémorant la contribution de la famille Bériault.

This room is named in commemoration of the outstanding community involvement of
Dolorès Beriault (1917-1994) and Marcel Bériault (1915-1997)
Marcel and Dolorès Bériault nee Couillard) settled in Orléans in 1956. Dolorès was a library coordinator for the School Board. Marcel for his part was President of the Recreation Commission and the Chamber of Commerce. In 1970, the Chamber named him "Citizen of the Year." In 1984, the Federation of French Canadian Women proclaimed Dolorès "Mother of the Year," given her involvement in the community. In 1958, they founded a community library from their personal collection. Over the years, the inventory increased with numerous donations and grants. Initially the library was housed in an unoccupied classroom in the basement of the former St-Joseph school, previously located on St-Joseph Boulevard. This library became public in 1967 and moved to 2742 St-Joseph Boulevard. In 1978, the Board of Directors of the Gloucester Public Library commemoratively named the branch after the Bériaults. When the branch moved to 1705 Orléans Boulevard, it was renamed the Orléans Branch, with this room honouring the Bériaults contribution.
