The 1893 McKanes Bridge was one of 91 McDonald timber truss road bridges built between 1886 —1893 of which only 6 survive. The bridge consists of two 27.5m truss spans supported at each end by sandstone masonry abutments. The centre pier was originally built of stone, but replaced with a reinforced concrete pier in the 1980,s following flood damage. The bridge is 4.57m between kerbs at its narrowest
