McClain Rogers Park was constructed in the 1930's by Depression-era government agencies including the WPA. The memorial is located in the beautiful 400-seat amphitheater, built in 1936.

Seating in the amphitheater consists of stone benches with concrete tops. We found this memorial on a plaque embedded into the end of one of the rows of benches, honoring Lucile Wheeler Lowry. Lucile Lowry was a long-time resident of Clinton, born 3/29/1916, died 11/29/1989.

The memorial reads:

LOWRY ROW
In memory of
Lucile Wheeler Lowry
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Lowry Jr.
