Castet Lake relies on a hydroelectric dam built on the Gave d'Ossau, it feeds a hydroelectric power plant of low waterfall (4 m), with a power of 1800 kw, owned by the Société hydroelectric du Midi (SHEM) . Before 1957 there was a torrent that was more or less flanking the valley.

The birdlife is very rich: different ducks passing, water hens, grebes greek, martins fishermen etc ... A museum space is dedicated to the water and animals of the salgue.
Besides brown trout, there are minnows, eels and roach, surprising!

Le lac de Castet s'appuie sur un barrage hydroélectrique construit sur le gave d'Ossau, il alimente une centrale hydroélectrique de basse chute (4 m), d'une puissance de 1800 kw, propriété de la Société hydroélectrique du Midi (SHEM). Avant 1957 il y avait un torrent qui devait plus ou moins flanner dans la vallée.

La faune aviaire est trés riche: différents canards de passage, des poules d'eau, des grebes castagneux, des martins pecheurs etc... Un espace muséographique y est dédié à l'eau et aux animaux de la saligue.
A part des truites fario, il y a des vairons, des anguilles et des gardons, surprenant !
