The village of St Cyrus is situated above the old cliffs overlooking the North Sea coast in the southern part of Aberdeenshire (formerly Kincardineshire) in Scotland. Beneath the cliffs a mile to the south-west of the village is the Nature Reserve which runs for over a mile to the north-east between the volcanic cliffs and the dunes lining the beach, giving the area its own sheltered ecosystem.

This sign is situated between the car park and the visitor centre and your position is marked by a red circle on the map. The map covers the walks within the reserve and are marked as follows:

Beach Trail - Yellow - Moderate (3/4 of a mile) A short walk to a viewpoint in the dunes.

Estuary Walk - Blue - Moderate (1.5 miles) A walk to an estuary bird hide.

Tyrie Trail - Red - Moderate (1 mile) A walk past an ancient kirkyard to an area hosting a range of specialist plants, birds and animals.

Floo'ery Meads - Purple - Strenuous (2 miles) A meadow trail only available from May to October.

Also on the sign is information on the flora and fauna that can be seen in the area. The nature reserve can be reached along a narrow road branching off from the A92 road between Montrose and St Cyrus just to the north of the North Water Bridge.
