"On a bitterly cold night in London - November 1887, William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army was shocked to see the destitute and poor huddled under this bridge, as a result shelters were soon established to aid those in need. Today, throughout the world such centers provide emergency care and spiritual assistance to all humanity in need."
