The white-painted Nautical Flag Pole is at the War Memorial for the Coral Sea World War Two naval conflict that Australia and America participated in. The memorial is between the north-bound, and south-bound sections of ANZAC Parade, as it is NOT just a median strip, but a whole 'park' section, with a carpark even. (It is also just south of the intersection of where Wise Street and Haig Streets intersect with ANZAC Parade.)

The Flagpole is next to a low brick memorial wall that has hundreds of individual stainless steel plaques for those who participated in the Coral Sea Conflict of World War Two, and "who made the Supreme Sacrifice in the Service of their Country".
