The area of Dibble, once part of the Chickasaw Nation, might have been settled as early as 1869 and a post office was established in 1894 which stayed open until 1926. The town was named for two rancher brothers James and John Dibble. The town struggled along when the railroad was re-routed and eventually the town was incorporated in 1937. It is located west of Purcell on Highway 39 in McClain County.
Town Hall, along with the Police Department, are located in a small one-story metal building with a shallow gable roof. The town does not have a website and little could be determined about the town's government. Dibble is a rural and agricultural town. There is a large school campus which serves the surrounding area, but very few businesses in town.
