"The first chapel, built in 1607 by Thomas Poussin, was oriented east-west: it had three altars in the choir and six side chapels.

This primitive chapel threatened ruin from 1714, and a new chapel was built on the plans of the engineer Simeon Garangeau (1738-1743), following a north-south direction, and completed in 1742 by the architect Michel Marion.

The new chapel consists of a nave with a canted apse and two rows of side chapels. Inside, the nave is divided into four bays and accosted on each side by three chapels.

Under the chapel is a crypt in which the chaplains of the Hôtel-Dieu were formerly buried. The chapel was converted into a fodder store during the Revolution and served as a prison for royalist troops after their defeat at Granville in 1793.

Burned in 1944, the chapel underwent major restorations, it was reopened in 1974 to house the temporary exhibitions of the municipal museum. "

" Sources : L’Eglise
