Texas Time Travel"The J.P. “Punk” McNatt Motor Company practically screams “speed.” Sleek lines and subtle curves mimic both the streamlined features of the Bankhead Highway and the modern cars that were sold inside. Indeed, this style of eye-catching architecture has a distinct and descriptive name: Streamline Moderne. As opposed to Ford’s stodgy but affordable Model-A or more ornate and expensive cars, like Rolls Royce Phantom, automobiles in the 1930s—just like buildings—were becoming simpler. Less fluff, but more style.
Now, the style of the dealership and the style of the cars were starting to work together to increase sales. Floor-to-ceiling windows revealed shiny Oldsmobiles just waiting to be yours. Vibrant red letters of the building’s signs complemented shiny red Cadillacs ready to drive off the showroom floor. Punk McNatt and General Motors wanted the modern car buyer’s attention…and they got it."
