Im Jahre 1148 wurde erstmals eine Burg schriftlich erwähnt. Die Burg steht auf einem ins Ulftal vorspringenden Berghang und ist auf den abfallenden Seiten durch mächtige Aufmauerungen gesichert. Im Norden schützte ein gegen den Bergrücken künstlich angelegter Graben die mittelalterliche Wehranlage. Heute sind die Umfassungsmauern und der Bergfried aus der Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts noch erhalten und für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Beim Einfall der französischen Truppen (1794) wurde die Anlage stark zerstört und nicht mehr wieder aufgebaut.

En 1148, un château a été mentionné pour la première fois par écrit. Le château se dresse sur une pente de montagne faisant saillie dans l'Ulftal et est sécurisé sur les côtés en pente par une puissante muraille. Au nord, une tranchée, construite artificiellement contre la crête, protégeait la fortification médiévale. Aujourd'hui, les murs d'enceinte et le donjon datant du milieu du XIVe siècle sont toujours préservés et ouverts au public. Lors de l'invasion des troupes françaises (1794), l'usine est lourdement détruite et non reconstruite.

In 1148, a castle was first mentioned in writing. The castle stands on a mountain slope projecting into the Ulftal and is secured on the sloping sides by powerful walling. In the north, a trench, built artificially against the ridge, protected the medieval fortification. Today, the surrounding walls and keep from the mid-14th century are still preserved and open to the public. At the invasion of the French troops (1794), the plant was heavily destroyed and not rebuilt.
