Indigenous Name: Burraga
Latin Name: Perameles nasuta
Description: The Long-Nosed Bandicoot is a small animal that looks like a bilby. They are usually grey, black and brown and are about 30-40cm.
Food: The Long-Nosed Bandicoot eats insects and other small invertebrates.
Habitat: They live in burrows or in woodlands so it can be hard for predators, such as foxes, dogs and cats to find them.
Fun Fact: The bandicoots live at Bradleys Head and the Long-Nosed Bandicoot population at North Head is classified as endangered. Please be carful when you are driving. Especially at dusk and dawn when Bandicoots are most active.
