Long Description:
Booya Car was recently placed along the new bike trails at Lake Stanley Draper in Southeast OKC.
The sculpture, by local artist Gabriel Friedman, looks like a 1959 Buick LeSabre, painted sky blue, that took a high-altitude nosedive into a mound of earth. It’s intended to be an permanent landmark, a reminder to exercisers that they’ve reached a significant point in their efforts, according to the Arts Commission. “Booya” is an exclamation of accomplishment.
“This car was born in America, lived and died in Oklahoma City, and now can be revived here to be enjoyed and to encourage Oklahomans,” the artist said in his original proposal.
