FR Au centre du village, près de la Poste et de la mairie, on peut voir cette fontaine datée de 1847.
Sa silhouette élancée, grâce a l'emploi d'un fût de colonne surmonté d'un vase Médicis, le bassin octogonal et les quatre canons sculptés en forme de tête de canard, lui donnent un bel aspect ornemental. Quoique plus petite, elle ressemble à la fontaine de la colonne édifiée quelques années auparavant à Riez, la ville voisine.
Ce modèle se retrouve dans plusieurs villages des alentours.
C'est une fontaine dite "de prestige", inspirée du passé romain de la région et placée près de la route, bien en vue des voyageurs.
Quand le village fut électrifié, on remplaça le vase par une ampoule, emblème de modernité. Mais au-delà de cette fonction décorative, la fontaine répondait aussi aux besoins en eau des habitants de cette partie du village, pour lesquels l'ancienne fontaine, près de l'église, était trop éloignée.
Un petit lavoir en contrebas, aujourd'hui disparu, complétait l'aménagement.




EN In the centre of the village, near the post office and the town hall, you can see this fountain dated 1847.
Its slender silhouette, thanks to the use of a column shaft topped by a Medici vase, the octagonal basin and the four sculpted duck head cannons, give it a beautiful ornamental appearance. Although smaller, it resembles the fountain of the column built a few years earlier in Riez, the neighbouring town.
This model is found in several villages in the surrounding area.
It is a so-called "prestige" fountain, inspired by the region's Roman past and placed near the road, clearly visible to travellers.
When the village was electrified, the vase was replaced by a bulb, an emblem of modernity. But beyond this decorative function, the fountain also met the water needs of the inhabitants of this part of the village, for whom the old fountain, near the church, was too far away.
A small wash-house below, now disappeared, completed the layout.
