In Bonn gibt es seit Anfang 2016 insgesamt 15 sogenannte "Dauerzählstellen für den Radverkehr", also Radwegabschnitte wo per Induktionsschleifen die vorbeifahrenden Radfahrer elektronisch gezählt werden. Die Zählstellen wurden von März 2015 bis Januar 2016 im Rahmen des Regionale-Projektes Rad-Region-Rheinland installiert. Die Stadt erhofft sich durch die Auswertung der Zahlen eine bessere langfristige Planung für den Radverkehr.

Die bekannteste und auffälligste dieser Zählstellen liegt auf der Rampe zur Kennedybrücke in der Bonner Innenstadt: Hier wird die Anzahl vorbeifahrender Radfahrer nicht nur elektronisch gezählt sondern auch auf einer Anzeige dargestellt. Die als "Fahrradbarometer" bekannte Stele zeigt die am aktuellen Tag gezählten Fahrräder als Digitalzahl an ("Fahrräder heute"), sowie die des aktuellen Jahres als Balkengrafik ("Fahrräder dieses Jahr"). Durchschnittlich werden hier knapp 5000 Fahrräder pro Tag gezählt (Stand September 2019).
Since the beginning of 2016, there have been a total of 15 so-called "permanent bicicle traffic counting stations" in Bonn, i.e. cycle path sections where the passing cyclists are electronically counted by induction loops. The counting stations were installed from March 2015 to January 2016 as part of the regional project Rad-Region-Rheinland. By evaluating the numbers, the city hopes for a better long-term planning for cycling traffic.

The most well-known and most striking of these counting stations lies on the ramp to the Kennedy Bridge in the Bonn city center: Here the number of passing cyclists is not only counted electronically but also displayed. The stele, known as the "Bicycle Barometer", displays the number of bicycles counted on the current day as a digital number ("Fahrräder heute"), as well as those of the current year as a bar chart ("Fahrräder dieses Jahr"). On average, almost 5000 bicycles per day are counted here (as of September 2019).
