The beautiful Baroque statue located on a small square located about 200 meters southerly from the St John Baptist's Church in Lysá nad Labem is called "The Stigmatization of St Francis Seraphicus (Stigmatizace sv. Františka Serafinského). Under this name St Francis of Assisi sometimes used to be named. It depicts when the St Francis according to Christian tradition, in 1224 he received the stigmata during the apparition of Seraphic angels in a religious ecstasy, which would make him the second person in Christian tradition after St. Paul (Galatians 6:17) to bear the wounds of Christ's Passion.

Biography
St. Francis of Assisi (or also St. Francis Seraphicus; Italian: San Francesco d'Assisi; born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, but nicknamed Francesco ("the Frenchman") by his father; 1181/1182 – October 3, 1226)was an Italian Catholic friar and preacher. He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of St. Clare, and the Third Order of Saint Francis for men and women not able to live the lives of itinerant preachers, followed by the early members of the Order of Friars Minor, or the monastic lives of the Poor Clares.
