First bridge spanning the Mississippi River at New Orleans, the Huey P. Long has traffic lanes cantilevered off each side. The highway portion is 8,076 feet long. Has been called one of the great engineering bridges in the country.
Location:
Plaque is located on the East bank support, on river road facing south. The bridge itself is US Highway 90 a once major east/west highway and still heavily traveled.
