The grave of Sarah Pratt McLean Greene is marked by a 20' high granite Celtic cross set on a trapezoid shaped base. The front of the base is inscribed:

Sarah Pratt McLean was born in Simsbury, CT on July 3, 1856. The year on the grave marker is one year too early. She attended Mount Holyoke Seminary, now Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA. Her novels were set in both New England and in the western United States. He first novel, written under the name Sally Pratt McLean, Cape Cod Folks was published to critical acclaim in 1881.

After her marriage to Franklin L. Greene in 1887, she moved to the western United States and wrote two novels, Lastchance Junction: Far, Far West and Leon Pontifex under the name Sarah P. McLean Greene. After her husband died in 1890 she returned to New England where the rest of her books are set. She also wrote the poems "The Lamp" and "De Massa ob de Sheepfol'".

The 1924 film, Women Who Give is based on her novel Cape Cod Folks .
