The "Three Waves for Coastway" mural by
Amy Bartlett Wright is painted on the northwest side of 17 Snow Street in Providence, Rhode Island. It was commissioned by Coastway Community Bank and is on a building next to its Downcity branch. Its dimensions are 45' x 50' and clearly seen from Washington Street. (Head to the top of the Civic Center Garage across the street for another unobstructed view.)
The image is just as the title: a trio of ocean waves in abstracted close-up. The background wave is just beginning to curl over and break. Slightly translucent, the water has a greenish tinge. The middle ground is a gently rolling blue with a few specular highlights. The foreground is of white and golden foam.
...Bartlett Wright began planning the mural with Coastway and AS220 in
2011, but the building would not be ready for painting until May of
2013. Once Bartlett Wright received the green light to begin painting,
the mural was completed in just 6 weeks...
