The Blue River Legion has a good sized building, considering that the Town of Blue River has a population under 400. The Blue River Legion appears to remain a quite active branch, offering support and assistance to local veterans and their families with programs offered through the national organization. On the front of the Legion is a mural that features the different branches of the Canadian services with scenes from various wars.
To the south of the building is an expanse of grass essentially the size of a city lot. At the centre of the west edge of the lot is an old, deteriorating cenotaph. Given its location beside the Legion, we must assume it to have been erected by Branch 213.
The cenotaph consists of a crumbling square concrete base, or plinth, with tapered sides, atop which is a large natural stone close to five feet in height. On the east face of the plinth is engraved the following:
LEST WE FORGET
1914 18 1939 45
1950 53
Beside the cenotaph is a tall, white painted flag pole. As of Spring, 2018 the Legion was fundraising for a
New Cenotaph, raising $2,334 toward a new cenotaph in April of that year. As of June, 2019 no new cenotaphs had appeared on the site.
