Occupée dès la fin août 1914 par les troupes allemandes, Rieux est restée loin des combats jusqu'au 11 octobre 1918 date à laquelle le bourg a été le théâtre de violents combats entre les troupes britanniques et allemandes pour la prise du secteur. Ce cimetière a été créé à cette période pour inhumer les victimes britanniques et canadiennes, pour la plupart tombées le 11 octobre 1918.

En - History
Occupied at the end of August 1914 by German troops, Rieux remained far from the fighting until October 11, 1918 when the town was the scene of fierce fighting between the British and German troops for the capture of the sector. This cemetery was created during this period to bury British and Canadian victims, most of whom fell on October 11, 1918.

Feature
There are now 306 Commonwealth victims commemorated on this site, 81 of which are unidentified.
