About 5 kilometres south of Valemount is one of the many crossings of the Yellowhead Highway by the Canadian National Railway tracks.

Almost all the railway crossings have the highway crossing over the CNR tracks, as does this one. 79C605 is monumented in the southwest abutment of the railway overpass, high above the CN tracks. There's a wide spot at the south end of the concrete barriers on the west side of the highway, wide enough to pull off the road for a short time.
