This Ontario Historical Plaque is situated in a small park near the shores of Porcupine Lake in the heart of the small town of Porcupine Ontario. Formerly known as Golden City, this little community has quite a colourful past, and a very interesting history when it comes to the mining activity that went on here in the the early 1900's. Still active in the mining industry the Porcupine/South Porcupine area is very proud of its past and it's cultural history.

While visiting this plaque you will see some of the equipment that was used in mining this part of the Canadian Shield. Visible in the park are a tripod drill, and a old locomotive, and the original mine recorders office for this area. This office was used to record all of the claims when the Porcupine Gold Camp was booming.
