In 1802 Methodist Bishop Frnacis Asbery preached in the home of Mitchell Porter, Revolutionary veteran, who lived two miles north of here. In 1808 Asbury returned to Sevier County and preached in the newly built log chapel, 400 yards west of here. Shiloh Cemetery grew up around this chapel.
