"Trooper, South African Constabulary. Army no. 1311
He was the son of Benjamin and Jane Wright of Lyndon
He died whilst on active service on 17 June 1902 at Roodepport Nek.

On the north wall of the north aisle of Lyndon Church there is a plaque which commemorates the death in South Africa. The account here is from the Grantham Journal of 5 July 1902:
Sad news reached [Lyndon] on June 24th, by telegram from the War Office to Mr and Mrs B Wright, stating that their eldest son, Frederick Lewis [of the South African Constabulary] had been thrown from his horse in South Africa, causing concussion of the brain, from which he died. He was well-known and respected, gaining many friends wherever he went, and his death will be felt and deplored.
Great sympathy is expressed for the bereaved parents and his brother, in their trouble.
