The two springs feeding this spa where drilled in 1970. (For this reason I'm not including it in the Hot Springs category.)

The first spring (Wilhelmsquelle) originates in a limestone layer 755 meters below the earth. Its waters contain fluoride, sodium/calcium chloride, sulfate, carbonate and comes out clear and colorless at 43° C / 109° F. pH-value 6.2

The second spring (Friedrichsquelle) originates in a sandstone layer 315.6 meters below the earth. Its waters contain sodium carbonate and comes out clear and colorless at 38.5° C / 101° F. pH-value 8.2.

There are 3 indoor pools which are :

The Therapy Pool - heated to 34° C is the smallest of the 3 indoor pools and is fed from the Fredrichs-Quelle spring.

The Rheumaecken Pool - heated to 36° C is the warmest of the indoor pools and is fed from the Wilhelms-Quelle spring. It is equipped with water massage jets. It also has spigots with gently pouring water.

The Gymnastics Pool - heated to 33° C is the largest of the indoor pools and is fed from the Wilhelms-Quelle spring. The pool is sometimes circulated with a gentle current while mood music is played to a shifting colored light.

There are 4 outdoor pools which are :

The Bewegungsbecken Pool - connected to the Gymanstics pool and heated to 34° C. The pool is equipped with water massage jets.

The Cold Water Pool - is the smallest pool of the four and is filled with drinking water at 24° C.

The Water Current Pool - is the largest of the four outdoor pools. During the summer it is kept at 28° C and in the winter 32° C. It is also equipped with water massage jets.

The Quelltopf Pool - is heated to 40° with seating and is fed from the Fredrichs-Quelle spring. Due to the high temperature, consult a physician before using this if you have any doubt. Spend no more than 5 minutes in this pool.

Swim suits are required in all areas of the spa except the Panorama Sauna (upstairs) where they are forbidden.

Note : Picture taking within the establishment is restricted.

The shy types may wonder, how does a visit to the spa work?

Come prepared with swimsuit, towel, and shower soap as these are not provided. When you enter the facility, you will see a counter where you pay the entrance fee which is €9.00 for 2.5 hours if you are an adult and only going to swim in the pools and regular steam baths. The Panorama sauna costs extra. You will receive a very small punch card which you then insert into a turnstyle. Once you insert it, you will be able to pass the turnstyle and the punch card will be spit out. You need to keep the punch card.

Immediately after, there are some lock boxes which you can use to store valuables, but you really don't need them as there are free, secured lockers further in.

Proceed to the changing area where there are a number of cabins. You walk in on one side, change your clothes, and then walk out the other side to the pools. The cabin doors are locked while inside by a lever above waist level.

Once outside of the changing cabin, you will find the lockers with the keys hanging from them. (If the key isn't there, then it means the locker is already taken) Insert the punch card into the slot on the locker locking mechanism. This will allow you to remove the key, and lock the locker. (The punch card stays in the locker)

You then strap the key to your wrist.

Your entry time is recorded on the punch card.

You walk through the shower area before going into the pools.

When you're finished, you will need the punch card again to exit through the turnstyle.
