The pound was built in 1774. It is located on the west side of Squam Lake Road (Rte. 25B) as one leaves the center of Sandwich. Described as "now merely a curiosity" in the 73rd Annual Excursion of the Sandwich Historical Society on the seventy-fifth anniversary of the society.
