En cet endroit fut inhumé, le 4 janvier 1776, avec ses deux aides-de-camp McPherson et Chesseman et quelques soldats, le Général américain Montgomery, tué dans le combat du 31 décembre 1775. Ses restes mortels furent transportés à New York, et inhumés près de l'église St. Paul, en 1818.
Une autre plaque a cet endroit se lit comme suit: (Traduction)
«Les dépouilles mortelles de treize soldats de l'Armée du général Montgomery tués dans l'assaut sur Québec, le 31 décembre 1775, à l'origine enterré dans ce bâtiment, reposent maintenant sous la pierre adjacente placée à leur mémoire par plusieurs enfants américains.
La tablette de pierre d'origine a été remplacée par la Société nationale des fils de la Révolution Américaine 1957.»

In this place was buried on the 4th of January 1776, along with his two aides de camp McPherson and Chesseman and certain of his soldiers, Richard Montgomery, the American General who was killed during the attack on Quebec on the 31st of December 1775. In 1818 his remains were exhumed and removed to the precincts of St. Paul's Church, New York.

Inscription on the second plaque:
"The remains of thirteen soldiers of General Montgomery's Army killed in the assault on Québec, december 31, 1775, originally buried within this building are now resting under the adjacent stone placed to their memory by several American children.
The original stone tablet replaced by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution 1957."
