A 7' by 3' by 3.5' bronze statue of a World War I Doughboy stands on a 6' high by 4' square granite base. The sculpture was created by Theo Alice Ruggles Kitson and cast by the Gorham Manufacturing Company foundry in 1931.
The figure of a World War I Doughboy is depicted walking with his left leg forward. He is carrying his rifle over his right shoulder. Next to his right foot is a helmet. A field pack, a water canteen, and a helmet are strapped to his back.
The front of the base contains a rectangular bronze plaque which is inscribed:
TO HONOR THE MEN
OF HOPKINTON
WHO SERVED IN THE
WORLD WAR 1917 1919
Followed by a double column list of names:
THIS MEMORIAL ERECTED 1931
