The church of St Mary (Welsh: Eglwys y Santes Fair) which sits on high ground at the centre of Llanfairfechan was consecrated on October 11th 1849.

The main body of the church was designed by the architect, H. Kennedy who came from nearby Bangor. The church was built on the site of an older Medieval church.

The bellcote and the bell appear to be in good condition but it was not possible to clearly see if the bell had any inscriptions or markings.

There are impressive views of the mountains and over to Anglesey from the church.
