The Steinman-style Suspension Bridge, 'was conceived, designed, built and funded by local visionary Walter Taylor, a contractor who lived in Graceville' [Wiki]. The suspension cables used here had been used in the building of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The longest span of the suspension bridge is 600 feet - 183 metres, with a total length of 300 metres. Wikipedia doesn't give the height of the habitable pylons, but they are at least six-storeys high!
The bridge was opened on 14 February, 1936, costing £85,000, and operated as a toll bridge until the 1960's. It was initially called the Indooroopilly Toll Bridge, and renamed in 1956 after Walter Taylor's death (1955) in his honour. [ex- (
