The small town of Peterculter lies eight miles to the west of the city of Aberdeen in Scotland, along the valley of the River Dee. A golf course for the town had always been on the agenda, but it took until 1989 for work to start on a site south of the town by the bank of the river. The course was opened in 1991 and the clubhouse followed in 1993.
The course is parkland in nature with three distinct levels. The area down by the river, which does not really come into play, is flat and contains holes 3, 4, and 5 on the front nine, and 10 through to 13 on the back nine. The majority of the holes play on a terrace above the river, with holes 15, 16 and 17 on the high part of the course.
The course plays to around 6,000 yards off the visitor's yellow tees with a par of 71 (Four short holes and three par fives). The course is situated in a rural area around half a mile south of the town.
