Any local building with history which has been destroyed by fire, would shock the community. As happened in 1962 when the church caught fire.

Having stood for hundreds of years it was a very sad day when on Christmas day 1962 the church caught fire.
Local fire crews attended and managed to save the tower.
On Christmas day of 1962, a fire destroyed much of the church. The church was rebuilt adding a new dimension to what has been described as a church from all ages,Various parts built on throughout time.

Cause of Fire: There are several reports, but one thing was clear and that was that it started in or around the organ.
There could have been an electrical fault with some of the wiring and or a rodent had chewed through the cabling.
