The Sundial is mounted on a cemented stone pillar, near the Evans Lookout overlooking Grose Valley. Unfortunately it is missing the gnomon (the pointer that casts the shadow to tell the solar time).

On the southern side of the hexagonal bronze plate is the raw coordinates, which if used 'accurately', places the intended position of the Sundial in the southern corner of the Royal Sydney Golf Club, between Bellevue Hill, and Bondi North, some 90 km to the east, and close to the ocean.
