Near the flagpole is a three sided black granite pillar. The triangle top has the State Seal of Texas.

Front side has "Smith County Peace Officers Memorial" and "In honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow man". Below is a list of names. The first one listed is from 1851. The last one listed is from 2017.

The right Side is engraved with badges.

The left side:

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER

Lord, I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears
Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect
And Strength of spirit
To lead others...

I ask for dedication
Dedication to do my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me, Lord, concern
for those who trust me,
and compassion for those
Who need me...

And please, Lord
through it all,
be at my side.
