The Kiowa is a small, single-engine, single-rotor (two-bladed) helicopter acquired to fill the roles of observation, reconnaissance, command and liaison, target acquisition, and adjustment of fire. The Kiowa and Twin Huey made up the backbone of the Air Force's 10 Tactical Air Group and were used primarily to support Army operations. Both Aircraft have been phased out as the Air Force receives more of its replacement tactical helicopter, the Bell CH-146 Griffon.

Ex US Army OH-58A-BF 71-20939. With No. 403 (HOT) Squadron at CFB Gagetown, NB. Stored at 430e Escadron Tactique d'Hélicoptères at CFB Valcartier, PQ in February 1995. Later stored at CFD Mountain View, Ontario. At the Ottawa War Museum by January 2006.

Bell OH-58 Kiowa

"The Bell OH-58 Kiowa is a family of single-engine, single-rotor, military helicopters used for observation, utility, and direct fire support. Bell Helicopter manufactured the OH-58 for the United States Army based on its Model 206A JetRanger helicopter.

You will be escorted by a tour guide. Tours of the hangar are scheduled for 11 AM and 1 PM. There is paid parking on site. Taking photographs is allowed. Access restrictions: You will be briefed by the tour guide at the commencement of your tour and he/she will explain the activities that you may have to restrain from within the hangar. There are barriers on the floor that serve to prevent visitors from approaching too close and touching the aircrafts.
