While Tamworth is considered to be in the northwest of New South Wales, it is basically north of Sydney (at least of western Sydney), being a five hour drive. But if you don't like the drive, Tamworth has the largest regional airport in Australia. If you are coming into Tamworth from the south on the New England Highway, and see the BIG Golden Guitar, you will know that you are HERE! (At the southern Tamworth suburb of Hillvue)
Stop in for some local advice on where to eat, what you can see, or book some accommodation, there is plenty to do. With having three well known fast food outlets within a couple of hundred metres, there is no need to go too far for something fresh and hot.
