The trail uses route 11, south of route 392 Messengerville. The Finger Lakes trail map shows it crossing the Tioughnioga River at Messengerville. This area of the trail is between Hoxie Gorge State Forest and Tuller Hill State Forest.

"The Finger Lakes Trail System includes the main Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) from the Pennsylvania-New York border in Allegany State Park to the Long Path in the Catskill Forest Preserve. The main FLT is 575 miles long...The Trail System has been and continues to be built and maintained by 15 organizational and approximately 60 individual and family trail sponsors. All of these groups and individuals are volunteers. "
