Large bas relief sculpture mounted on the General George Crook monument. The relief depicts the surrender of Apache leader Geronimo (spelled 'Geronymo") to General Crook and officers of the ^th and 7th Cavalry in 1883.
General Crook was involved with the Indian Wars from 1866 on. However, his integrity as an officer and compassion towards his native foes earned him their respect. They nicknamed him "Nantan Lupan" which h meant 'Chief Wolf".
The relief, sculpted in bronze, is based on a photograph taken of the event in 1883.
