From the (visit link) website :-
"Designed by sculptor Tim Turner, the statue was unveiled on the morning of 20th October, as part of the town's commemorative events in the final year of the centenary."

The life-size bronze statue in World War I Army uniform, stands in Cae Glas Park and is adorned with the words of Owen, handwritten by local primary school children, along with five original poems, contributed by pupils from local schools. He is depicted holding a book of poems from which some pages have fallen out.

Wilfred Owen died on the battlefield in France just days before the war ended.

Owen, known as "The War Poet" who was born at Plas Wilmot, Weston Lane, Oswestry, is widely recognised as one of the greatest voices of the First World War.
